Got a live report today from The Five (or I-5 as everyone else calls it). Amazingly yellow carpet of flowers near Santa Nella. Gorgeous blossoms on fruit trees near Hollister.

Meanwhile here it's lovely short-sleeve-weather again (I'll admit it. Californians are spoiled). And of the deciduous trees in the surroundings, there are many that are buddying, ready for the fresh new spray of green.

Gardening resource

Dan at Flower Delivery Flowers is building a web directory of gardening resources. You can register your gardening page/site/category on their site in exchange for a reciprocal link on yours.

(I'd go and do it, except that there's a ton of work to take old stuff from 2+ years and fit it somehow into the Greenery Dept. --which has hardly anything in it, and none of the good old stuff.. Feh.)

What a difference three days makes

Arugula seeds planted: Sunday. First day sprouts noticed: Wednesday. Picture taken: Thursday. This is the second time I've done the plant-from-seeds thing, and it still amazes me when green appears!

Desert Wildflower Watch

The Desert Wildflower Watch report from a week ago says that Joshua Tree is pretty dry and flowerless. Maybe this weekend will have a better outcome! (yes, there'll be rain tomorrow). On the other hand, it's looking like a good year for poppies in the Antelope Valley area (see pix from a previous trip)
